Extrusion Equipment for Pellet Production
Extruders are used to process soft, moistened mixtures of powders, excipients, and binders into uniform cylindrical or rod-shaped extrudates, forming the basis for subsequent pelletizing or core formation processes. These powder processing machines play a key role in pharmaceutical, food, and chemical production lines, ensuring consistent extrusion quality and high throughput.
Partek offers a range of extrusion equipment suitable for laboratory testing and industrial-scale manufacturing, which can be seamlessly integrated with spheronizers to form a complete pellet production system.
-

- Vertical Pelletizing Extruder (Laboratory-Scale) The laboratory-scale vertical pelletizing extruder is designed for R&D environments and pilot-scale production. Compact, lightweight, and easy to operate, it efficiently transforms wet, cohesive mixtures of powders, excipients, and binders into uniform cylindrical extrudates.
- Min. feeding weight
0.15kg - Production capacity (based on Ø0.8mm)
≤50kg/h - Die aperture
Ø0.4–3.0mm - Power supply

- Vertical Pelletizing Extruder (Production-Scale) The production-scale vertical pelletizing extruder is designed for large-volume manufacturing of uniform cylindrical pellets. It processes blended mixtures of powders, excipients, and wet binders into dense, consistent extrudates through a rotary extrusion mechanism.
- Min. feeding weight
0.3-2kg - Production capacity (based on Ø0.8mm)
≤500kg/h - Die aperture
Ø0.6–3.0mm - Power supply
380V, 50Hz

- Horizontal Pelletizing Extruder In this horizontal extrusion system, the pre-mixed wet mass is driven by a screw feeder into the extrusion chamber, where it is compressed through a perforated screen to form dense, uniform cylindrical strands of varying lengths.
- Min. feeding weight
0.2-2.0kg - Die aperture
0.4–3.5mm - Rotation speed
5–120rpm - Material return ratio

Supports die customization from Ø0.5mm to 3.0mm for different pellet size requirements. - Construction materials and feeding components
Contact parts can be manufactured in SS316L, titanium alloy, or special coated materials. For cohesive materials, a twin-screw feeder is available to prevent bridging; for free-flowing powders, a vibration-assisted feeding system can be applied. - Anti-sticking and cleaning design
Mirror-polished extrusion chambers or non-stick coated die plates can be customized for sticky materials. Quick-release structures enable fast disassembly and cleaning. CIP/SIP systems are supported to meet aseptic production standards. - Electrical control system options
Basic configuration: domestic inverter with potentiometer, Chint low-voltage components, no PLC/HMI.
Advanced configuration: Siemens PLC and touchscreen control with Schneider or Omron low-voltage components, providing precise automation and operational flexibility.
This versatile extrusion line ensures smooth processing, easy maintenance, and compliance with GMP and industrial hygiene standards across pharmaceutical and fine chemical production.
